These terms govern your use of localestimator.com. By using the site you accept them. If you do not agree with them, please don’t use the site.

What this site is

Local Estimator publishes cost estimates for home and local services in the United States. The site is free to read, requires no account, and does not sell anything. We are a publisher of pricing information — we are not a contractor, a broker, an appraiser, or a licensed professional in any trade.

Estimates are informational — not quotes or advice

This is the most important thing on this page, so it is not buried in a footnote:

• Every figure on this site is an estimate provided for informational and planning purposes, calculated from public federal datasets. See how it’s calculated.
• Estimates are not quotes, bids, appraisals, or offers, and they do not create any agreement to perform work at a stated price.
• Estimates are not professional, financial, legal, engineering or contracting advice, and should not be relied on as a substitute for a licensed professional inspecting your property.
• We make no guarantee that any contractor will charge, or that any job will cost, an amount within a published range. Real prices vary with the size, condition, access and location of the work, with materials and labour markets, and with the professional you hire.

Always obtain written quotes from licensed professionals before committing money to a project, and treat our ranges as a way to sanity-check those quotes rather than replace them.

No relationship with contractors

We do not perform work, employ tradespeople, or supervise anyone who does. We do not vet, endorse, recommend or guarantee any contractor, and a business appearing on or advertising through this site is not a recommendation. Any agreement you enter into with a professional is strictly between you and them, and we are not a party to it and take no responsibility for it.

Accuracy and availability

We work to keep our figures accurate and our sources current, but the site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The underlying government datasets are published periodically and lag the market. We may change, correct, or remove any page at any time without notice.

If you spot a figure that looks wrong, please tell us — corrections from readers are genuinely useful and we act on them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Local Estimator and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, profit, data, or opportunity, arising out of your use of — or inability to use — this site or anything you relied on here. This includes decisions you make about hiring, budgeting, or negotiating based on a published estimate.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• Scrape, harvest or bulk-copy our content or price data for republication or to build a competing dataset.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure.
• Misrepresent our estimates as quotes, or present them as your own work.
• Use the contact form to send spam, malware or abuse.

Reasonable personal use — reading pages, printing an estimate, quoting a figure with a link back — is welcome and encouraged.

Intellectual property

The written guides, layout, design and the compilation of pricing on this site belong to Local Estimator and are protected by copyright. The underlying government data is public domain and belongs to no one.

You may quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link to the page you took them from. You may not republish whole guides, mirror the site, or use the content to train a commercial model without written permission.

Advertising, referral links and third-party sites

This site carries advertising and links to third-party websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products, or practices — following an external link is at your own risk, and their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave.

Paid links. Some links on this site are advertising or referral links. If you contact a professional through one of them, we may be paid a fee — at no extra cost to you. Where such links appear, they are disclosed on the page itself, not only here.

Compensation has no bearing on our estimates. No advertiser or partner can pay to change, add, or remove a published figure, and we do not rank or price anyone more favourably for paying us.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The revision date at the top always reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

Your local rights

Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the consumer-protection laws of your own state or country that cannot legally be waived. Where a term here conflicts with such a right, that right wins and the rest of these terms continue to apply.

If part of these terms doesn’t hold up

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, that part is treated as removed and the remainder stays in force.
